AADE Protocol
Overview
Based on the instructions provided by Greek Ministry of Economy and Finance, every cashier system should be integrated with the card terminal(s).
The new AADE Protocol is relevant only in Greece and its usage is mandatory for the successful communication between every cashier system and the card terminal(s).
Supported Devices
All PAX devices and Android Viva POS App.
Prerequisites
PAX devices
The following apps and versions are required for AADE functionality:
- Viva Wallet POS App version 4.20.0 and above
- Viva Wallet Proxy version v2.16.2 and above
Android Devices
- Viva Wallet POS App version 5.5.0 and above
The devices should be connected to the network/internet through ethernet or/and through wifi.
Viva Wallet will automatically install the latest Viva Wallet POS App in any card terminal.
Verify application version

If you want to verify which application is installed to your PAX card terminal, please follow the steps described below.
1. From burger menu, click the menu option System:
2. Click on About menu option:
Verify your installed version.
If the latest version is not yet installed on your card terminal, please get in touch with Viva Wallet using our communication channels.
Configure Viva Wallet Proxy on Pax
1. On terminal screen, from the top scroll down and select the “Show Settings” menu for VIVAProxy.
2. Select the AADE protocol.
3. Move down to AADE section and click the button “Get master key”.
4. From the Viva Wallet app “Settings” menu, please click on AADE Mode.
5. Turn the AADE Mode on.
Android
If you want to verify which application is installed to your Android card terminal/ToP, please follow the steps described below.
1. On the bottom navigation menu, please click on the Settings icon, named More.
2. Click on About menu option:
Verify your installed version.
Configure Viva Wallet Terminal App on Android Terminal/ToP
1. On the bottom navigation menu, please click on the Settings icon, named More.
2. Select the menu Integrations.
3. As available communication protocol is displayed the AADE. Click on that.
4. Enable the AADE toggle.
5. To synchronize the card terminal with the cashier system and with AADE, click on “Get AADE Master Key”.
6. Specify the IP Address and the port in your cashier machine (if it is required).

PAX
There are cases in which the cashier system will not be fully functional due to technical issues. In these cases, it is given the option to report to AADE faults that related to the cashier system, following the below steps.
1. From the burger menu, access the settings and then select the AADE Report.
2. Enable the “Report ECR Fault to AADE” toggle.
Android
1. On the bottom navigation menu, please click on the Settings icon, named More.
2. Select the menu Integrations.
3. As available communication protocol is displayed the AADE. Click on that.
4. Click on “Report ECR Fault to AADE”.
The infrastructure required for successful connectivity between the cashier system and the terminal is broken. What needs to be done to process payments?
There are cases in which the infrastructure such as Lan cable or/and port, wifi modem/ will not be fully functional due to technical issues. In these cases, it is given the option to report to AADE faults that related to the infrastructure, following the below steps.
